UK Jewellery Awards

WJ Shaw Jewellers, based in Dodworth near Barnsley, has been announced as a Finalist in the Bespoke Jeweller of the Year category at the UK Jewellery Awards 2026. The event takes place in London on 8th July and will see the best of the UK jewellery industry come together to celebrate a year of achievement, with finalists and winners being selected by peers in the trade.

Proudly representing Dodworth, Barnsley and South Yorkshire at this most prestigious event, WJ Shaw Jewellers is nominated for their incredible bespoke work and the talented team of craftspeople responsible for turning their client’s dreams into reality. This is a particularly significant moment for the family business, which originated with husband and wife team William and Julia Shaw in 1988.

William and Julia originally worked from home, creating bespoke jewellery pieces and offering a repairs service until 1999 when they opened their store on Dodworth High Street. The business has enjoyed continued success and expanded both their premises and personnel several times over the years, but the core of the business remains their on-site workshop and dedication to the highest standards of production, presentation and customer service.

A significant milestone came on 1st August 2025, when WJ Shaw Jewellers celebrated the official launch of their Bespoke Yorkshire Rose collection. These special pieces are hand made by Team WJ in Dodworth and are based on Julia’s version of the classic design created in the 1990’s. All pieces proudly carry the Yorkshire Rose Hallmark of Sheffield Assay Office and are testament to the couple’s love of their Yorkshire Heritage and the long-standing relationship of the business with their loyal local clientele.

The launch of their own bespoke collection alongside commissions for clients helped to put WJ Shaw Jewellers on the shortlist for the UK Jewellery Awards, which is the Jewellery Industry equivalent of the Oscars.

Both William and Julia are still working in the business alongside their daughter and Managing Director Heather Brett, and they are both honoured and excited to attend the ceremony with their full Team in the Summer.
